GSESPINTO

A short aesthetic experience developed in 6 days by a team of 5 during the 4th Interdisciplinary Week at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.

The project tells the story of a young child lost in a mystical forest with only a cassette player. Through the power of imagination and the emotional impact of the songs being played, the environment shifts and transforms, guiding the child back home. Set in a cel-shaded forest filled with fantastical creatures and a relaxing soundtrack, the experience invites players to explore and enjoy a calming, visually rich atmosphere.

I was the team’s programmer and VFX/Shader artist. My main focus was deepening my skills in Unreal Engine 4 by working across several systems. After developing the core mechanic — activating platform pieces based on the music playing — I explored the Niagara system to simulate bird flocks, created cel shading effects, and implemented virtual textures to blend ground and object colors based on height. I also added environmental particle effects like fireflies and dust, and built level transitions to enhance the overall experience.
